Central West End is one of the most desirable neighborhoods in St. Louis. It is home to popular attractions and high-end amenities. The neighborhood has undergone significant development in recent years, from newly planned residential areas to historic building renovations. Central West End is restoring the St. Louis urban landscape and improving the city for residents and visitors.
Let’s look at how Central West End is restoring the city.
Central West End’s Role in St. Louis Urban Landscape Revitalization
New Commercial and Residential Developments
Completing the One Hundred Above the Park residential tower in 2021 provided new housing opportunities for residents. The tower, with 316 apartment units, includes a pool deck, fitness center, common areas, retail space, and abundant parking.
There’s also residential development at the AT&T tower, approved by St. Louis Planning Commission in January 2023. The newly renovated tower will include 306 apartments and 300 hotel rooms. It will also have a combined 325,000 square feet of office and retail space.
These revitalization efforts can significantly improve the quality of life of CWE residents. It will also attract new residents and businesses to the city.
Infrastructure Improvements
In April 2021, the completion of the CWE Metro Station renovation project received a well-deserved award for Excellence in Architecture. The Washington University School of Medicine and BJC HealthCare helped initiate the project. It is already doing a lot to make the city more accessible.
With the main purpose of improving safety for pedestrians and overcrowding in the station, they made new improvements. These include better lighting, adding security fencing and gates, widening the main stairwell, and more.
Entertainment Enhancements
Brick + Bev, a Green Street Real Estate Ventures subsidiary, spent $60 million to redevelop the Armory. This new development is the largest indoor entertainment venue in St. Louis. It will bring tons of fun and excitement to the city.
It covers 250,000 square feet with six entertainment and event venues. Live music from local bands, food, and drinks are available.
Additionally, the Armory has over 40 interactive games, a two-story slide, massive TV screens, VIP event spaces, etc. Six huge bars are also available within the complex and possible future creation of a rooftop bar.
Social and Cultural Events
Central West End has also made the St. Louis urban landscape more attractive by hosting various events. Residents and visitors of CWE can enjoy art exhibitions and museums, including the World Chess Hall of Fame. Attend annual celebrations such as the Fourth of July Family Parade or Valentine’s Day Celebration in The Candle Fusion Studio.
