An article came out in Fortune Magazine today and I thought it might be of interest for what’s not on this list…St Louis! While home values in other cities have blown up, St Louis is NOT one of the most overvalued housing markets in the U.S. In fact, St Louis, in March of this year, was cited as one of the most affordable housing markets in the U.S. We’re in the top 15!
The 10 Most Overvalued Housing Markets in the U.S.
- Boise, ID
- Austin, TX
- Ogden, UT
- Provo, UT
- Phoenix, AZ
- Spokane, WA
- Las Vegas, NV
- Detroit, MI (really?? lol)
- Salt Lake City, UT
- Atlanta, GA
3 out of the 10 are in Utah. I think I like the weather better in St. Louis! If this list looks familiar, you’ve probably seen it before. It’s virtually the same as it was before the last big downturn in the market circa 2007. While we don’t know what the future of the market holds, it’s nice to know St. Louis isn’t on this list.
Yes the inventory of homes to sell is low and prices have gone up but we still have a median home price of about $223,000 and our city has a lot to offer.
