The new St Louis City SC Stadium is currently under construction in Downtown West, St. Louis and will be the new home of the St. Louis City SC MLS Soccer team. This club is a new expansion franchise for the city of St. Louis.
The new stadium will hold 22,500 and the design is truly spectacular. Not a bad seat in the house!
The vision is to provide the community with a soccer hub for die-hard soccer fans. This will attract even more visitors to the downtown area during the season.
The stadium is centrally located and will eventually connect the Gateway Arch to Forest Park, two centerpieces of St Louis history.
Downtown Stl Louis has seen a bit of a renaissance over the years and this stadium will be an amazing addition to the downtown area. This will be great for downtown business especially restaurants and hotels.
“Build It and They Will Come”
Soccer, or Football as everyone else in the world calls it, has taken off in the U.S. St. Louis has been a baseball town since the St Louis Browns (renamed the Cardinals in 1900) started a rivalry with the Chicago Whitestockings in 1881.
Did you know that St. Louis has had a professional soccer team since 1907? Our first professional soccer team was the “St. Leo’s team” in the St Louis Soccer League. There have been many professional teams in and out of St Louis for over 100 years.
The idea of building a soccer complex, or in this case a sports hub, would have been scoffed at in the not too distant past. Downtown West and vision of the stadium owners will bring a new brand of ball to St. Louis.
Seeing a game in this stadium will be magnificent.
The Stadium Creates Construction Jobs
As with any construction project, new jobs have been created to get the stadium completed. Usually, local contractors are used for construction projects as they cost less and local companies to do the work.
New jobs are always good as the economic impact has a ripple effect on the community.
Soccer is Popular
The hope is that visitors from all over the region will come to watch games in the soccer dedicated stadium. It’s going to be a great place to see a game. With a stadium as nice as this will be, you’re going to want to come to downtown St. Louis to see a game and enjoy the sights.
Some BBQ wouldn’t be a bad idea, either!
