Alexander Lofts

The Annex Lofts building was originally one of three buildings that were annexes for the Ely Walker building on Washington Avenue. Part of the vibrant Washington Avenue Garment District, it was located directly behind Ely Walker.

The building, along with two other buildings on Locust, confused historians and photograhpers for years as they were all identical to the main Ely Walker building. In photographs found in "Capturing the City", by Joseph Heathcoat and Angie Dietz, pictures show what appear to be the Ely Walker building at the corner of 16th and Locust.

Investigation lead to the discovery that the annex buildings for Ely Walker all looked similar. Today, the Annex Lofts is in the heart of St. Louis' vibrant urban renaissance that started back in the late 1990's.

Just minutes from leading sports and entertainment venues, downtown business district employers, and a mix of trendy restaurants and nightlife, The Annex Lofts is close to everything.
