Built in 1915 as a twelve-story structure, the building was home to the Missouri State Life Insurance Company (then General American Life Insurance Company).

The building came into prominence in the mid-1950's with the newly added florescent weather globe. The property was added to the National Registry of Historic Places in 2002.

By early 2000 the building was being converted into 99 spacious, modern looking condominiums with a rooftop community deck and second floor community room. The bright white exterior with the rooftop weather beacon can be seen from miles as you approach downtown.

The building is one block off of Washington Avenue Garment District and just blocks from the new St. Louis City Soccer Club Stadium, Fields Foods, Union Station, Enterprise Center, Stifel Theatre and the SLU Law School.
